BMW 7 Series

The BMW 7 Series E23 cars were some of the most modern and luxurious vehicles of their time. They featured a 12-valve type-M30 six-cylinder engine found in other older BMW models, such as the E3 and E9 models. Apart from the 745i, most models featured fuel-injected engines, such as the 728 and 730 equipped with the Solex four-barrel carburetor. The Bosch L-jetronic system was used in early fuel-injected models, while the later models used the advanced digital Bosch Motronic system. Complex climate control systems, service interval indicators, 'check control' systems that alerted drivers to various faults, and later features such as driver's airbags and Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) were also made available. Various options were also offered, like leather upholstery, several types of wood trim, power seats, seat heaters, power windows and mirrors. In 1983, a minor styling update affected the front of the vehicle, as well as the dashboard and instrument panels. The instrumentation was improved and the 735i model received a modified rear suspension, Motronic 3430cc engine, and other minor changes. In 1984, the US models received a 4-speed automatic transmission, upgraded wood trim, and electric power seats, with Michelin TRX radials and wheels being added in 1985. Manual models featured both 4-speed and 5-speed gearboxes.
