BMW ActiveE Concept

The BMW Group is bringing yet another milestone in the goal for CO2-free mobility with the BMW ActiveE Concept, the latest electric vehicle project from their initiative to reduce environmental impacts while still maintaining the particular driving experience BMW is renowned for. Following their all-electric MINI E model, this large-scale electric vehicle test project will be adopted by interested customers. The BMW ActiveE Concept was created with practical use in mind and was based on the BMW 1-Series Coupe. It embodies the same agility and driving pleasure of the BMW 1-Series, all while eliminating emissions. At the 2010 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, the BMW Group debuted this midpoint in their research and development activities for electro-mobility. The BIW Group has already gained valuable experience with the MINI E project in the US and Europe. Taking the next step, they are now launching a test fleet of vehicles based on the BMW ActiveE Concept. With these vehicles, private owners and select fleet customers will be able to determine the demands of future electric vehicles. Such experience will be included in the development process of a production electric vehicle planned for the first half of the next decade under the BMW sub-brand.
