BMW M4 Iconic Lights Concept

At the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, BMW showed off its advanced Laserlight technology. Already used in its vehicles, Laserlight offers a range of up to 600 metres, and can now be combined with the BMW Selective Beam function (anti-dazzle High-Beam Assistant). At CES, BMW showcased ways that Laserlight can be integrated with assistance systems and vehicle sensors to provide intelligent lighting functions for improved safety and comfort. For example, it can illuminate corners in advance according to the navigation system, while Dynamic Light Spot can even detect people and animals at night from up to 100 metres away. New lighting technology opens up design scopeThe BMW M4 Concept Iconic Lights model provides a new interpretation of the traditional BMW round headlights. On the move, the laser technology inside the lights can be spotted through the fine blue strips. Moreover, the car utilises OLEDs (organic light-emitting diodes) for the rear light clusters and direction indicators. OLEDs offer a three-dimensional effect, as well as taking up less space due to their slim size.
