BMW has finally released the production version of the much-anticipated BMW X6 ActiveHybrid. The Sports Activity Coupe, which made its world premiere at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA), combines the power of a 400 hp twin-turbo V8 engine with two electric synchronous motors to deliver a total system output of 480 hp and 575 lb-ft of torque. It is the first of its kind to offer this hybrid drive system, which provides great driving dynamics and fuel economy while reducing up to 20% of CO2 emissions. The X6 ActiveHybrid can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.4 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 130 mph. Average fuel consumption and CO2 emission ratings in EU test cycles are expected to be available closer to its fourth-quarter 2009 market introduction in US BMW Centers.
