BMW Z4 2.5i

The BMW Z4 is a two-door, rear wheel drive sports car manufactured by renowned German auto giant BMW. It was introduced to the market in 2003 and succeeded the Z3 model. This model has been praised for its substantial improvements with regards to power, size and the stiffer chassis. It is made in Spartanburg, South Carolina. At launch it was exclusively available as a roadster, and the coupe version was launched in 2006. Designed by Chris Bangle, it initiated a debate concerning its distinctive "flame surfacing" design and fierce styling. It has been used in subsequent models most notably in the 7-series and 5-series models. The Z4 model improved on its predecessor the Z3 with regards to the front suspension, but the rear suspension underwent more revolutionary alterations. This piece of engineering is based on BMW's E30 series 3-Series. Instead of a trailing arm suspension, the Z4 was fitted with a multi-link one. Four straight-six power engines are available in the Z4 model - the 2.2 L, the 2.5 L, the 3.0 L and the 3.2 L. The 2.2 L 120 kW (170 bhp) version can accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.7 s, however this engine variant is not sold in the United States. In the European market, buyers are offered a 2.0 L straight-4. The 2.5 L offers 141 kW (184 bhp) at 6000 rpm and BMW claims 7.0 seconds for the car to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) with a manual transmission. It is slightly lighter than its 3.0 L counterpart with a weight of 1,335 kg (2,932 lb). The 3.0 L 170 kW (231 bhp) straight-six accelerates to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 s. The top of the range 3.2 L packs an impressive 246 kW (330 bhp) at 7900 rpm and (262 lb-ft) of torque at (4900 rpm). All models are fitted with a five-speed manual transmission except for the 3.0 L and the M Roadster, which possess the 6-speedGetrag transmission. The 5-speed automatic or 6-speed SMG transmissions are an available optional extra on all models. A Sport package is offered with a selection of stiffer and lower suspension, larger wheels featuring run-flat tires, and BMW's Dynamic Driving control - the car's Vehicle Stability Control system.
