BMW Z4 GT3
The BMW Z4 GT3, revealed in March and quickly popular among BMW Motorsport customers, has been delivered to private BMW teams who will prepare them for use in various championships such as the FIA GT3 European Championship, the International GT Open or the ADAC GT Masters, and even long-distance races.
"The feedback on the BMW Z4 GT3 is extremely positive," says BMW Motorsport Director Mario Theissen. "This sports car rounds off our product range, allowing competitors to take advantage of the rules set in the GT3 regulations." BMW Motorsport Distribution also supplies the BMW M3 GT2, BMW 320si WTCC, meeting Super2000 regulations, and the BMW M3 GT4 for customer teams worldwide.
The production model BMW Z4 sports an elongated bonnet, flared wheel arches, long wheel base, and narrow projections that give it an unmistakable look. BMW Motorsport engineers used the two-seater vehicle to develop the close-to-production GT3 racing car, differing mainly in its powertrain. While the production BMW Z4 is powered by a six-cylinder powerplant, the GT3 car uses a 4.0 litre, eight-cylinder engine used in the BMW M3 GT2. This motor generates more than 480 bhp with amazing performance characteristics and solid torque curve as well, making the base engine from the production version of the BMW M3 perfectly fit for motorsport.
