The BMW Z4 Roadster range has been visually and mechanically enhanced, and now offers several different engines to choose from. The range is topped by the Z4 3.0si which is powered by an innovative magnesium alloy six-cylinder engine, capable of delivering 265hp and 315Nm of torque. This gives the Z4 3.0si impressive performance, with a 0-62mph time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 155mph. It also returns an impressive 32.8mpg over the combined cycle.
Two six-cylinder 2.5-litre models are also available, the Z4 2.5si and 2.5i. The 2.5si produces 218hp and 250Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 149mph, while its fuel economy stands at 33.6mpg. The 2.5i produces 177hp and 230Nm of torque, and is the more economical option of the two.
The only engine carried over from the previous range is the four-cylinder Z4 2.0i. Produced at BMW's Hams Hall plant near Coventry, the 1,995cc engine delivers 150hp at 6,200rpm and 200Nm of torque at 3,600rpm. Thanks to its lighter weight, the Z4 2.0i accelerates from 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds and reaches a top speed of 137mph, while still delivering decent economy.
