BMW Zagato Roadster Concept

The next stage of a successful collaboration. Just three months after the debut of the BMW Zagato Coupé, BMW and Zagato have unveiled their latest collaboration – the BMW Zagato Roadster Concept – at the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. This unique car is evidence of the painstaking craftsmanship that has gone into its construction, in only six weeks. At the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the Roadster fits right in with the array of automotive exotica on display. This prestigious event provides the fitting backdrop for the presentation of the iconic concept. The decision to extend their partnership had been made shortly after the initial reaction to the BMW Zagato Coupé. BMW Group Design Senior Vice President, Adrian van Hooydonk, and Andrea Zagato set themselves the challenge of having the car ready for Pebble Beach, and it is their teams' efforts and specialist knowledge of manufacturing one-off vehicles that allowed this goal to be met. Van Hooydonk explains: “The BMW Zagato Roadster was duly conjured up in record haste, with only six weeks separating the first design idea from the finished model. It was only with the expertise of both companies in the manufacture of high-end one-off cars and another display of outstanding teamwork that we were able to finish the car on schedule".
