The company was established in 1977 by Klaus Brackman and Bodo Buschmann in Bottrop, Germany. The name of the company derives from the first three letters of the surnames of its founders. In 1999, it became a subdivision of DaimlerChrysler.
Brabus focuses on making luxurious and exclusive cars, trying to increase the engine performance through the increase of horsepower and torque. It also offers its clients some cosmetic modifications, including the interior ones. The company’s engines range from 200 to 800 horsepower.
Brabus cars have set several world records. In 1996, Brabus E V12 set a speed record for sedans (330 km/h), but later other Brabus models broke this record, by reaching 350.2 km/h, 362.4 km/h and 365.7 km/h. In 2009, GLK V12 managed to set the world record for crossovers (322 km/h).
