The French luxury car manufacturer Bugatti has unveiled the second vehicle in the exclusive "Les Légendes de Bugatti" (Bugatti Legends) series as a world premiere at the 2013 International Motor Show in Frankfurt. Limited to three vehicles, the Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse "Jean Bugatti" is a celebration of the company's founder Ettore Bugatti's oldest son and his most famous creation, the Type 57SC Atlantic. At a cost of 2.28 million euros (plus tax and other charges), the "Jean Bugatti" has been developed to honour a prominent figure in 20th century automotive history. Gianoberto Carlo Rembrandt Ettore Bugatti, known as Jean, was Ettore Bugatti's most gifted son who, from the late 1920s, used his own design and structural ideas to influence the company in Molsheim, France. Following his father's death, Jean took over Bugatti in 1936 at the age of 27 and managed to successfully bridge the artistic roots of the brand with his innovative automotive technology. By the time of his tragic accidental death in 1939, Jean had already established a lasting legacy in automotive history. "Jean Bugatti is a Bugatti legend," says Dr Wolfgang Schreiber, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. "His legacy lives on in our modern-day cars – his designs demonstrating the Art, Forme, Technique that are the core values of our brand."
