Buick Invicta Concept

The innovative Buick Invicta concept car was revealed in association with Auto China 2008, setting a strong marker for Buick's global ambitions. This four-door midsize sedan has a coupe-like roofline and an impressive design that will become the benchmark for Buick's new generation vehicles in the US and China. Elements of Invicta were also seen in the 2004 Velite convertible and 2007 Riviera coupe, both of which were highly-regarded for their modernized take on classic Buick themes. Invicta was designed by GM experts in Warren, Michigan and Shanghai, China and its name - Latin for "invincible" - returns to Buick after 45 years in the US. "The Invicta demonstrates the increased level of collaboration between our GM Design Centers - creating something that could not have been achieved by one studio working in isolation," commented Edward T. Welburn, vice president of General Motors Global Design. "It is a significant design milestone for Buick's history." Powering the Invicta is Buick's first-ever direct injection turbocharged engine - a four-cylinder powerhouse producing 250 horsepower (186 kW) and 220 lb-ft (298 Nm) of torque. This engine is combined with a six-speed automatic transmission for superb performance and fuel economy.
