Buick LaCrosse CXS
The all-new 2005 Buick LaCrosse is shaking up the passenger car lineup with its fresh design both inside and out, its powerful engine and unprecedented levels of comfort, quietness and a more responsive handling. Replacing the Regal and Century sedans, LaCrosse reflects the future of Buick as the division moves to renew and expand its vehicle line in the coming years. The LaCrosse is available in three models: CX, CXL, and the performance-oriented CXS. The CX and CXL are equipped with the renowned 3800 Series III 3.8L V-6 engine that generates an estimated 200 horsepower (149 kw). Updates to this version of the award-winning engine include electronic throttle control for improved engine response, fuel efficiency, and noise reduction. Estimated fuel economy is 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway.
The CXS is outfitted with 3.6L V-6 VVT (variable valve timing) engine that provides 240 horsepower (179 kw). This premium aluminum engine has two overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. Its variable intake and exhaust valve timing allows for 90 percent peak torque between 1500 rpm and 6000 rpm. Fuel economy is estimated at 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
