Buick Regal

In 1997, the Buick Regal and the Century became versions of the same car, sharing a revised W platform with the Oldsmobile Intrigue, the Pontiac Grand Prix, and the Chevrolet Impala. Distinguished by a longer length than the Century, the 4-door sedan body was accompanied by larger engines, more luxurious trim, and additional interior amenities such as heated leather seats, dual climate control and the Monsoon 8-speaker surround sound system. This generation also offered the Buick Regal GS, an upgraded version of the Regal that totaled 240 horsepower (179 kW) and 280 ft·lbf (380 N·m) of torque, due to the supercharged 3.8L (231 in³) Series II V6 engine. Promoted as the "car for the supercharged family", the LS had the same engine, but was rated at 200 HP and delivered a quarter-mile ET of just under 16 seconds. The GS, on the other hand, partnered a quarter-mile ET of just under 15 seconds with its more powerful motor. Both engines were reliable models, and the Regal's seven-year run of the 1997-2004 model was characterized by few changes.
