Buick Velite Concept

The Buick Velite brings together two seemingly opposite characteristics with perfect harmony - restrained extravagance. This four-seater convertible is designed to provide an opulent experience for its occupants, while its rear-drive mid-size body is truly unique within the automotive market. At the New York Auto Show, Buick will reveal the concept version of the Velite. GM's all-new Zeta global vehicle architecture is being used for the first time in an American car for this project. It was created by GM's Advanced Studio in Warren, Mich. and was then assembled at the renowned Stile Bertone studio in Italy. The Opel Insignia is its sister car and featured the Zeta architecture at the Frankfurt International Auto Show in the past. Anne Asensio, executive director of GM Advanced Design, says that "the Velite is a modern interpretation of Buick's timeless understated yet sophisticated design. The car displays an impressive presence, and emphasizes a luxurious driving experience that will strengthen Buick's presence on the world stage of touring cars." Buick's global outreach is seeing positive results, especially in Asia. Chinese customers responded warmly to their recently released products, making the demand greater than the supply. The Velite only helps to contribute to this sense of sophistication with an athletic build and aggressive stance while visible yet tasteful heritage details give the vehicle an international flair.
