Buick Verano Turbo

Buick has revealed that its 2013 Verano Turbo luxury sedan will be equipped with an Ecotec 2.0L turbocharged engine that delivers an impressive SAE-certified 250 horsepower (187 kW) at 5300 rpm and a peak torque of 260 lb.-ft. (353 Nm) at 2000 rpm. This ensures that acceleration from 0-60 mph is an estimated 6.2 seconds, while over 90 percent of the peak torque is accessible between 1700 to 5500 rpm - a greater amount than its competitor, the 2013 Acura ILX 2.4L, which offers a peak of 170 lb.-ft. of torque. Amy Joss, Ecotec 2.0L assistant chief engineer stated that the engine was designed for refinement, higher output capabilities and reduced noise. This is reflected in the engine's power delivery mechanism and refined character, which is fitting of a luxury sedan. In addition, Buick's 2.0L turbocharged Ecotec was named one of WardsAuto World's 2012 10 Best Engines for North America. Tony DiSalle, Buick's vice president of Marketing further commented that Buick's engine strategy continues to be driven by intelligent performance, and that the implementation of four-cylinder engines, turbocharging and eAssist provide optimum efficiency and smooth, quiet character. Lastly, statistics from IHS Automotive show that the usage of four-cylinder engines in North American vehicles is expected to increase by 74 percent from 6.9 million to 12.2 million units over the next 10 years, which will be seen in the Buick Verano Turbo. This model is available with either a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox.
