Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car

Cadillac is bringing back the thrill of racing in 2011 with a race-ready edition of its CTS-V Coupe joining the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) World Challenge. This series is known for its top production-based racecars in North America, where Cadillac competed from 2004 to 2007; claiming the Manufacturer's Championship twice (2005 and 2007) as well as the Driver's Championship (2005) through the CTS-V Sport Sedan. Cadillac will field two teams in the upcoming SCCA World Challenge GT Class, featuring a CTS-V Coupe as the base for the racecar. In addition to the CTS-V Coupe, the CTS-V line-up includes the CTS-V Sedan and CTS-V Wagon, both of which were recently named to Car and Driver magazine's 10 Best list for 2011. "Returning to racing in the SCCA World Challenge is a great way to demonstrate the performance and capability of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe," declares Don Butler, vice president for Cadillac marketing. "The racecars in this series are production based, which allows us to validate our performance against the best of our competitors on the track, and not just the showroom." In developing the CTS-V Coupe racecar, Cadillac is relying on the expertise of Pratt & Miller, an engineering firm based in New Hudson, Michigan, which specializes in motorsports. Although some of the original production CTS-V components will be adjusted to meet the technical rules of the SCCA series or the unique requirements of racing, every effort is made to retain as much of the production content as possible.
