Cadillac CTS-V Coupe Race Car

Cadillac is back in the racing scene for 2011 with a race-ready version of the CTS-V Coupe competing in the Sports Car Club of America World Challenge, the North American apex for production-based racecars. The SCCA World Challenge was part of Cadillac’s track roster from 2004 to 2007 where cornering the GT Class with the CTS-V Sport Sedan enabled the brand to win the Manufacturer’s Championship in 2005 and 2007, and also the Driver’s Championship in 2005. The prestigious firm will be fielding two teams to compete in the upcoming GT Class with racecars based on the CTS-V Coupe. This model, which is accompanied by the CTS-V Sedan and CTS-V Wagon, recently earned a spot in Car and Driver magazine's 10 Best list for 2011. "Returning to racing in the SCCA World Challenge is a great way to demonstrate the performance and capability of the Cadillac CTS-V Coupe," said Don Butler, vice president for Cadillac marketing. "The racecars in this series are production based, which allows us to validate our performance against the best of our competitors on the track, and not just the showroom." Cadillac's ultimate racing program is an integration with Pratt & Miller, a New Hudson, Michigan engineering company that focuses on motorsports. As they develop the CTS-V Coupe race car, some of the production components will be reworked to abide by the SCCA series' technical regulations, all the while not forgoing the model’s production standards.
