Cadillac DeVille

The Cadillac DeVille underwent its first major redesign since 1994 in 2000. This generation marked the transition from the K platform to the G platform, although GM continued to refer to it as the K platform. Production began in August 1999 with exterior changes to make it more elegant, sporty, and aerodynamic, with a drag coefficient of 0.30. Interior updates included new door panels and seats, and minimal changes to the dashboard and radio face. The DeVille was one of the first production cars to feature LED tail lamps, now becoming increasingly commonplace. It also offered Cadillac Night Vision system, developed in collaboration with Raytheon. This utilizes an passive infrared sensor to identify warm and cold images and shown on the windshield using an automotive head-up display. In 2004, the d'Elegance designation was changed to the DeVille DHS (DeVille High Luxury Sedan), which added several cabin comfort options. The performance DeVille Concours was then renamed the DeVille DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) and contained stability control, CVRSS and MagnetoRide, and onboard navigation. This drop-top version lasted until June 2005, before being replaced with the DTS for 2006.
