Cadillac Eldorado Convertible

The Cadillac Eldorado Convertible underwent a redesign in 1971, increasing in length and wheelbase. The result was a rounder and heavier automobile, with standard fender skirting. It had frameless door glass and a 'opera window' at the rear. In 1972, sales hit 40,074 and the Eldorado moved from the Fleetwood series to become its own series. A facelift accompanied the new classification, which also gave the car new bumpers, grille, decklid, and taillamps. It was also the pace car for the Indy 500 in 1973 with 566 special edition convertibles created. Sales rose again with the introduction of a 1974 rear bumper update and 1975 saw the car gaining rectangular headlights and a sleeker design that was reminiscent of the 1967-70 models. Fender skirts were also removed from the design.
