Cadillac Escalade 2002 posters

Cadillac Escalade EXT

The Cadillac Escalade is a full-size luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) sold by General Motors' luxury division, Cadillac. In 1999, this was Cadillac's first major entry into the popular SUV market, with production commencing only ten months after it was approved. Initially, the Escalade was based on the GMC Yukon Denali but was redesigned for the 2002 model year to fit with Cadillac's new design theme. It filled the void left by the RWD Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham sedan after its demise in 1996. After the discontinuation of the German-made Cadillac Catera in 2001, the Escalade EXT pickup and Cadillac BLS are the only two Cadillac models made outside of the United States. The standard Escalade is produced in Arlington, Texas, while the Escalade ESV is sourced from there after a 2006 redesign. The Escalade line has become popular with after-market tuners, due in part to its expensive parts and celebrity affiliations. These modifications are done by third-party companies and often involve larger wheels, increased engine performance, and custom paint. Unfortunately, the Escalade also holds the dubious distinction of being the most stolen vehicle from 2001-2003 according to the Highway Loss Data Institute.
