Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept

Cadillac stunned the world when it unveiled the Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept at the 2010 North American International Auto Show. This revolutionary concept suggested a new paradigm for the luxury sedan of the future, highlighting an emerging top-of-the-line Platinum series of models with unparalleled modern luxury and technological features, including a plug-in hybrid propulsion system. The XTS Platinum Concept was carefully crafted from the inside out, re-envisioning the luxury sedan as a personal headquarters for efficiency, luxury, and connectivity. Applying advanced technology to the car's entertainment, navigation, and information systems, the concept introduced a unique new approach to in-car electronics, designed to improve both its form and function. "The Cadillac XTS Platinum concept is the latest reflection of Cadillac's Art and Science execution philosophy," said Bryan Nesbitt, Cadillac General Manager. "We created this concept to serve as the personal headquarters of the user, offering advanced technology to enable new levels of connectivity and luxury." The Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept pairs a 3.6L V-6 Direct Injection gas engine with a state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid system. This innovative plug-in technology is designed to enable the battery to be fully charged through a regular electrical outlet, resulting in pure electric propulsion in a number of driving scenarios, including urban commutes, where it may even double the fuel efficiency of a conventional hybrid. Combining the traditional elegance of luxury sedans with a modern twist, the XTS Platinum Concept truly redefines luxury, making use of fine craftmanship and customer-driven innovation in its interior design. Like current Platinum Edition models, such as the Escalade Platinum, STS and DTS Platinum sedans, the interior is based on hand cut-and-sewn materials. The Cadillac XTS Platinum Concept further enhances the design with the addition of up-to-date forms and themes that incorporate the use of Organic Light-Emitting Diode (O-LED) displays in place of traditional gauges and screens.
