Caparo T1

The Caparo T1 – the world's buzz-worthy 2-seater road and track car with performance equivalent to an A1 GP racecar – will be on display at the highly anticipated British International Motor Show. This will be the first chance for half a million visitors to see this next-gen supercar manufactured using Britain's world-renowned expertise in high-performance vehicle design and construction. Caparo Group Chief Executive Angad Paul said "Caparo's decision to premiere the Caparo T1 at the British International Motor Show is a testament to the UK's hard work to deliver more sustainable motoring." As Christopher Macgowan, chief executive of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders explained, "This show of British automotive technology provides further proof of the UK's commitment to advanced motorsport and aerospace technology. The Caparo T1 is aiding car makers in developing lightweight models fit for the 21st century." For the Caparo Group, the production of the Caparo T1 – backed by their impressive £725 million financial muscle – is a priority in becoming a leading Tier 1 supplier particularly in advanced composite materials. This enables carmakers to reduce vehicle mass and, as a result, improve fuel efficiency and decrease CO2 emissions. Chief Executive of Caparo Vehicle Products, Richard Butler, commented on the ultra lightweight car’s capabilities. "The Caparo T1 is a demonstration of our technical ability to design a whole car. Paradoxically, its performance also serves a serious purpose – providing car makers with racecar technology to use in everyday vehicles." Designed using aerospace and Formula One racing technology, the Caparo T1's 2.4-litre V8 engine produces almost 500bhp in a sub-500kg body resulting in an incredible 1,000bhp-per-tonne power-to-weight ratio and an 8.5 second 0-100-0mph time that puts it on par with an A1 GP race car.
