Chevrolet Avalanche LTZ
The Chevy Avalanche was the first of its kind to combine the features of an SUV and the capability of a truck. In 2007, it was based on the brand-new full-size SUV platform from GM with more power, better fuel economy and flex-fuel capability on some models. This was accompanied by an improved driving feel, an upgraded interior, better soundproofing, and top-notch safety features. Avalanche has a unique offer of cargo and passenger options, enabled by the passenger-comfort of the SUV and the cargo-carrying ability of the Midgate. It has sold more than 379,500 units since it was first launched in spring 2001.
The new Avalanche model is available in LS, LT and LTZ with 2WD and 4WD. Additionally, it will have a Z71 off-road package available laterin the year. It is equipped with a 5.3L V-8 delivering 320 horsepower (238 kW) and 335 lb.-ft. of torque (463 Nm) with Active Fuel ManagementTM technology which switches between eight and four-cylinder power to save on fuel. There are two versions of the Vortec 5.3L Gen IV V-8, one being the aluminum-block standard on 4WD models, and both compatible with E85. Later in the year, a 6.0L V-8 with variable valve timing and Active Fuel Management will also become available, estimated to offer 355 horsepower (264 kW).
The Midgate of Avalanche further enhances its cargo-carrying and passenger-comfort capabilities, with its maximum storage capability stretching 5.3 feet (1.6 m) to 8.2 feet (2.5 m) when the rear seat is folded. Along with up to 8,000 pounds (3,629 kg) towing capacity, Avalanche is ready to take on any challenges. New features on the 2007 model include a central-locking tailgate, remote vehicle start on some models, and cargo cover retaining straps. It also has a new tailgate that is spring-loaded to reduce the effort needed to open or close it.
