Chevrolet unveiled the redesigned 2014 Camaro lineup, including the iconic Z/28, at the 2013 New York Auto Show. The 2014 models boast a remodeled exterior that has been designed to optimize air flow for maximum cooling efficiency and stability at high speeds. The latest Chevy Camaro Z/28 integrates a full aerodynamics package that allows it to generate downforce, making it the most track-capable Camaro to date.
"Chevrolet has the best-selling performance cars, and the new Z/28 carries on the original legacy of being unrivaled on the tracks," said Mark Reuss, President of GM North America. "It features a formidable engine, durable brakes, in-built coolers, potent aerodynamic downforce, and a surprisingly light curb weight - all indicative of greatness."
The original Camaro Z/28 originated in 1967 and was designed for the Sports Car Club of America's Trans-Am 2 class. It was fitted with a 302-cubic-inch V-8 for better weight balance, as well as a quick-ratio steering and a robust suspension tailored specifically for track use. In keeping with its raceway mission, the 1967 Camaro Z/28 didn't offer an automatic transmission or air conditioning as optional functions.
