Chevrolet Camaro GS Racecar Concept

The Chevrolet Camaro GS Racecar Concept, inspired by Mark Donohue's 1969 #6 Camaro and the Trans Am road racing series, is far from just a concept. Manufactured by Riley Technologies for the 2009 Grand-Am season, this racecar was built to look, sound, and drive like it was ready to hit the track. Its race-ready suspension, reinforced chassis, and drivetrain all comply with the specifications required for series certification. It's even been tested and driven on the racetrack to dial-in the powertrain and chassis. In addition to the original Chevrolet Camaro which the body-in-white is based on, the racecar features a carbon fiber hood, trunk lid, doors and fenders, a LS3 V-8 engine with solid engine mounts, Tremec 6060 six-speed manual transmission with close-ratio gearing, a modified three-inch exhaust system, an upgraded engine oil cooler, C&R racing aluminum radiator, and transmission and differential coolers. The car is presented at SEMA exactly as it was when it last drove off the track. Its grime, brake dust, and body imperfections all present as badges of honor, reminiscient of Donohue's iconic '69 Camaro racer. Both cars feature a similar deep blue paint scheme with yellow graphics, and yellow-painted interior and wheels.
