Chevrolet Chevelle 1969 posters

Chevrolet Chevelle

Introduced in the 1964 model year, the Chevrolet Chevelle was a mid-size automobile lineup from General Motors. It was a highly successful series with a range of models on offer - from family cars to powerful coupes and convertibles. The Chevelle also formed the basis of the Monte Carlo luxury car. Additionally, Chevrolet released the El Camino utility station wagon based on the Chevelle, which lasted until 1987.

Chevelle SS

The Chevelle SS was Chevrolet's entry into the muscle car market. Models up to 1965 had the 'Malibu SS' badge on the fenders, with the option of the highly sought-after Z16 engine option. In 1966, the Malibu badging disappeared for most models, but not for those sold in Canada. The SS version of the Chevelle was powered by three V8 engines - a 327 in³, 350 in³, and 396 in³ - with corresponding output ratings of 325, 350 and 375 hp respectively. Additionally, from 1968 to 1969, Central Office Production Orders (COPO) provided clever alternatives to the 400 in³ engine max restriction set in place by General Motors.
