Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray Convertible

At the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, Chevrolet unveiled the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray Convertible. Boasting an estimated 450 horsepower (335 kW) and 450 lb.-ft. of torque (610 Nm), the 2014 Stingray is the most powerful standard Corvette in history. "The convertible has been a part of the heart and soul of Corvette since its inception in 1953," said Ed Welburn, GM's vice president of global design. "When designing the new Corvette Stingray, we took a simultaneous approach so that the coupe and convertible models would feature the same performance, technology and design integrity." The Corvette Stingray coupe and its convertible counterpart will hit global markets in late 2013, with modifications of equipment to comply with respective countries' regulations, such as lighting, headlamp washers, and side mirrors. "Given the strong global profile of the Corvette, it is somehow fitting to launch the new Stingray convertible at Geneva," stated Susan Docherty, president and managing director of Chevrolet and Cadillac Europe. "It is an icon that has long been revered in many countries, even where it was never officially available." In addition to performance technology and capabilities that are equivalent to the coupe version, the Corvette Stingray Convertible also benefits from a lighter and more rigid aluminum frame structure, which is 57 percent stiffer and 45 kg lighter than the existing steel frame. The only tweaks to the frame are related to the folding top and relocated seatbelts.
