Chevrolet Corvette C7.R
Chevrolet has revealed the Corvette C7.R race car, developed alongside the brand new 2015 Corvette Z06. The two vehicles are the closest match between a Corvette built for the track and for the road, as they share multiple engineering features and parts, including the chassis, engine technology and aerodynamics.
"Corvette has been the go-to car for endurance racing for nearly 15 years now," said Jim Campbell, U.S. vice president, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports. "Their success can be linked to the great collaboration between the Corvette Racing crew and the production variation. The Stingray that's based off the C6.R race car has had a great influence on the 2015 Z06 and the new C7.R, making them more competitive in both the streets and the track."
In 2014, Corvette Racing is planning to have two of these C7.R vehicles in the GT Le Mans class for the 11 races in North America that are a part of the inaugural TUDOR United SportsCar Championship (formerly American Le Mans Series and GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series). The team also expects to compete at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the GTE Pro class, the race that Chevrolet and Corvette Racing have won seven times.
