At the Woodward Dream Cruise, the biggest celebration of automotive heritage in the US, Chevrolet unveiled its newest model to join the revered SS family – the 2008 HHR SS. Developed by GM Performance Division, the HHR SS has it all – a bold stance, a turbocharged and intercooled engine that produces 260 horsepower (194 kW), stylish exterior, interior accents, and track-capable handling.
"This unique vehicle gives Chevy a big boost in the sport compact market," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general Manager. The HHR SS features distinct exterior elements, like all-new front and rear fascias, a grille, a spoiler, 18-inch forged aluminum wheels clad in Michelin tires, and more. It’s also appointed with sport seats - with ultra-suede inserts – a gauge cluster, and a new steering wheel and shifter.
Safety is a priority with the HHR SS as it comes with standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control system, four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, and an optional side-impact airbag and power-operated sunroof. With so much to offer, it's no wonder this model is an exciting addition to Chevrolet's SS lineup.
