Chevrolet Impala 2006 posters

Chevrolet Impala SS

The 2006 Impala was unveiled at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show. Underneath the hood lies a 3.5 L V6 churning out 211 hp. The one remarkable news about is the SS model. It is the first time ever a Generation IV small-block V8 is used for a front-wheel drive Chevrolet vehicle; the 5.3 L V8 (with Displacement on Demand) engine produces 303 hp, making it one of the most powerful front-wheel drive vehicles in the world. It is 200.4 in (509 cm) in length, 58.7 in (149.1 cm) in height, and 72.9 in (185.2 cm) in width. The same GM W platform is used for the 2006 Impala, as it is with the Buick LaCrosse. It bears similarities to Ford Fusion and Honda Accord. There are four different trim options available for the Impala - LS, LT, LTZ and SS. The Police Package models come with their own 9C1 & 9C3 trim levels, however they do not include the civilian SS' 303 hp V8 engine. This has proved to be quite a letdown for the law enforcement officials. This car received unflattering reviews from critics hoping to see an aggressive look in the second generation Impala. The interior of the 2006 Impala is completely revamped as well. A wood trim center console with shiny chrome accents is used for all its major control buttons. The dashboard boasts a chrome Impala logo adorned within the wood grain trim that runs through the front of the car and its doors. The new control knobs scattered throughout the cockpit are imitating the ones found in the new Buick models and Cadillac DTS. The previously uncovered cupholders are now concealed underneath the center console.
