Chevrolet Monte Carlo
The Chevrolet Monte Carlo has been an iconic American mid-size car since its introduction in 1970 as a competitor to the Ford Thunderbird. In the years since, the Monte Carlo has gone through six generations, all of them two-door coupes closely based on a contemporary mid-sized sedan. This car has also been one of GM's biggest successes on the NASCAR stock car racing circuit.
Sixth generation
For its sixth-generation, Chevrolet fused together design aspects from the Monte Carlo of the past as well as elements from the NASCAR circuit. A few of these characteristics include the stylized wheel flares, vertically-oriented taillamps, a stylized rear bumper, a duck tail spoiler, and the return of the "Knight" badging. As for power, these Monte Carlos feature a 3.4 L OHV V6 in LS models, a 3.8 L V6 in SS models, and a 3.8 L L67 supercharged V6 in SS models from 2004 and 2005. The power and torque for these models are detailed in the table below.
