Chevrolet Monte Carlo Brickyard Pace Car

For 2000, Chevrolet drew upon GM Motorsports for design inspiration, as well as to Monte Carlos of the past. Classic traits included stylized wheel flares, vertically oriented tail lamps, a stylized rear bumper, the "Knight" badging, a full gauge cluster, and a subtle "hump" on the rear trunk. Additionally, Chevrolet stylists added an aerodynamic styling and duck tail spoiler inspired by the NASCAR circuit. Moreover, the return of the Super Sport moniker also debuted, replacing the Z34 designation of the fifth generation. The 6th Generation Monte Carlo was based on the Monte Carlo Intimidator Concept. Specialty nameplates Chevrolet released several models inspired by then-current NASCAR drivers, including the 2002 Dale Earnhardt "Intimidator Edition." This car featured two color schemes, one black with galaxy silver rocker panels and front and rear air dams, while the other was an all black body with black ground effects. A thin red stripe above the silver ground effects was also included. The car included silver "Intimidator" SS badges on the right side of the trunk, standard Monte Carlo SS badges at the bottom of the vehicle, an Intimidator badge with the number 3 on the dash, and Earnhardt's signature on the gauge cluster. Furthermore, the interior was outfitted with "charcoal" leather, 5 spoke, diamond-cut wheels, and the GM L36 3800 V6 engine.
