Chrysler Akino Concept 2005 posters

Chrysler Akino Concept

The Chrysler Akino concept vehicle has an eye-catching sculpted look and a compact shape. Its capabilities, however, go beyond what meets the eye. According to Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President - Design, Chrysler Group, "Our job as designers is to push the boundaries of conventional thinking [...] creating a new solution for future transportation". This is clearly evident in Akino Tsuchiya's unique design, which was debuted at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show and takes its name from the 37-year-old Interior and Exterior Designer based at the Chrysler Group's Pacifica Design Studios in Carlsbad, California. The meaning of the word "Akino" is "autumn field", a serene theme that is expressed throughout the vehicle. Tsuchiya says it was her desire to achieve "a soothing, comforting feeling of a living room" with the design, combined with a reflection of the Chrysler brand. The Akino concept has a single door on the driver side, and two doors on the passenger side that open in opposite directions, allowing for a booth-like rear seating. An interlocking form on the roof towards the rear of the vehicle provides additional headroom for backseat passengers. The idea behind the design was to provide a sense of home-like comfort while on the road, which is reflected in its inviting and comfortable interior.
