Its user-friendly features are further emphasized with the installation of a center console that enables hands-free operation of the customer's iPhone and iPod integration. Comfort is not left out as the mesh seating allows air circulation, and components of it are made from eco-friendly recycled and recyclable materials.
Chrysler LLC's Chief Innovation Officer, Peter Arnell, led the design process and commented, "We have evolved the GEM design language to better reflect its eco-friendly performance and its upbeat, positive image. These vehicles use no gasoline and emit no pollutants. So whether it's a trip around the neighborhood or the drive to school or work, the GEM Peapod is the ideal way to contribute to a greener planet, and a healthy lifestyle." As the company further redefines environmentally friendly vehicles, GEM will also be known as GreenEcoMobility.
The styling model for the production 2009 GEM will be displayed at the company's headquarters on September 23, 2008. The re-designed GEM is scheduled for production in 2009.
