Citroen C3 Pluriel

The Citroën C3 Pluriel was first unveiled at the 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show and 2001 Bologna Motor Show, and began sales in January 2002 as a five-door hatchback. It was available with 1.1, 1.4, and 1.6 litre petrol engines, and 1.4 and 1.6 litre Common Rail diesel engines. The base models were equipped with five-speed manual transmission, while the Stop & Start model had the SensoDrive gearbox, a five-speed semi-automatic transmission with paddle-shifters and manual and automatic modes. The top level trim also had the option of a four-speed fully automatic transmission. This chassis was also used for the Peugeot 1007 and Peugeot 207, and many components of the C3 are shared with those of the Peugeot 206. The C3 featured a start-stop system that can automatically switch off the engine when stopped to conserve fuel.

Citroën C3 Lumiere

The C3 Lumiere was a concept car that served as a precursor to the production C3. It was presented in 1998 as a five-door hatchback with four seats and two rear 'suicide' doors. The car had a manual five-speed transmission, and was powered by a 1.1 litre TU1 I4 petrol engine.

Facelift

In 2005, the C3 underwent a facelift with a more prominent front bumper, wider lower air intake, one air intake below the restyled radiator grille, and a relocated number plate. The rear lights were also given a makeover featuring crystal-coloured midsections. The inside of the vehicle featured a restyled dashboard with refined workmanship, and a newly designed instrument cluster for improved readability. Light metallic grey trims around the centre console and air vents also provided a modern touch. The steering was improved to increase weight as the car's speed increased. Citroën also included a new 1.6 litre 16-valve HDi diesel engine that was rated at 110 bhp (82 kW; 110 PS). The Pluriel model also received similar interior changes, but no other alterations.
