Citroen C3 VTR

The Citroen C3 VTR made its debut at the 2001 Frankfurt and Bologna Motor Shows, and started appearing on the market in early 2002. This 5-door hatchback was fitted with 1.1, 1.4, and 1.6 litre petrol engines, along with 1.4 or 1.6 litre common rail diesel engines. All vehicles utilized a 5-speed manual transmission, with the exception of the Stop & Start version which used the SensoDrive gearbox - a 5-speed semi-automatic transmission with manual and auto modes, plus paddle-shift levers. The top end model also had an additional option of a 4-speed automatic transmission. It had the same chassis as the Peugeot 1007 and 207, and shared many components with the Peugeot 206. The C3 included a fuel-saving start-stop system which could automatically cut the engine when not in use, such as during traffic, and restart it quickly. The 1998 C3 Lumiere concept car was the first iteration of the production C3. It was a 5-door hatchback with 4 seats and rear suicide doors to give passengers easy access to the back. A 1.1L TU1 inline-four engine powered the car, with a 5-speed manual transmission. In late 2005, Citroën gave the C3 a minor facelift. The front end gained a bigger bumper, wider lower air intake, and a single air intake slit below the tweaked radiator grille. The rear light clusters were redesigned and the passenger compartment upgraded with a revamped dashboard with a new instrument cluster for easier driver information. The car had light metallic grey inside the central section of the fascia, air vents, and the newly designed door panels and trims. Steering was improved to weight up with speed. Furthermore, a new 1.6 litre 16-valve HDi diesel engine with 110 bhp was added. The Pluriel variant received the same interior modifications.
