Citroen C4 WRC HYmotion4 Concept

The Citroën C4 WRC HYmotion4 Concept was unveiled at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, setting the stage for the team's first entry into the WRC with a hybrid- energy recovery system. This new concept car features a distinct split livery, with the World Rally Championship colours on one side and a more restful natural colour scheme on the other, highlighting Citroën's focus on environmental matters, especially when it comes to motor sport performance. The HYmotion4 system allows kinetic energy produced during braking to be captured and stored in battery packs, located at the rear of the car, for further use. This energy can be used to deliver additional power at acceleration, or to power the car through emission-free electric mode - accompanied by zero engine noise and exhaust emission. This system can drastically enhance performance during different driving phases: energy loss is minimized while braking, an electric motor increases the internal combustion engine's usable rev range, and the car can cover more distance (an extra 40km) when run on electric mode, with 30% reduced fuel consumption.
