Citroen DS 21 Cabrio

The iconic Citroën DS was produced by the French manufacturer from 1955 to 1975, selling nearly 1.5 million units in its two decades of production. The DS was renowned for its eye-catching, aerodynamic body design and technologically advanced features, such as its hydropneumatic self-leveling suspension system, offering users a new level of ride quality, roadholding, handling, and braking that its competitors took time to catch up with. The DS 19 debuted in 1955 at the Paris Motor Show, taking over 743 orders in the first 15 minutes, and 12,000 on the opening day! Its advanced engineering and unique visual appeal made it an instant success. Its higher price tag, however, limited mass sales in postwar France, and with this in mind, the ID series was released in 1957 to appeal to more cost-conscious buyers. It featured more conventional features, such as a non-power steering option and a traditional clutch and transmission, while the "ID Break" station wagon was introduced in 1958.
