Built according to the FIA's Group R3T regulations, the Citroën DS3 R3 retains the same external design as its production counterpart. However, the production steel body shell has been augmented with a multi-point roll cage to improve the car's structural strength and driver safety.
Powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre THP (high pressure turbo) engine, the DS3 R3 has seen certain production parts replaced with purpose-built racing components like an air box, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods, and an exhaust and turbo system to generate a maximum of 210bhp and 350Nm torque. This ensures not only an impressive acceleration but also excellent traction.
Citroën DS3 R3 also comes with the same six-speed gearbox found in the C4 WRC. With semi-automatic sequential control, it enables faster, and more reliable gear changes compared to manual transmissions.
