Citroen GQ Concept

The Citroën GQ Concept was developed in an unparalleled collaboration between the UK's most renowned men's magazine and a team of innovative Citroën designers, with the result being the ideal ride for the modern man. It was first time a British publication had linked up with an automotive manufacturer in such a way. In response to the brief provided by GQ's editor Dylan Jones, Mark Lloyd, the British designer who created the new Citroën DS3, led a group of Citroën's designers in crafting the sleek GT concept. The GQ Concept features distinguished sophistication and modern styling, showcasing a sculpted front, a rounded rear, pronounced body contours, and a slick concave rear windscreen - all befitting of a classic Citroën design. Access to the interior can be found through rear coach doors, inside of which lies a spacious, comfortable, and futuristic cabin. Bringing the car to life, the creative director of famed Savile Row tailoring brand E.Tautz, Patrick Grant, provided the decor and upholstery selections. Grant noted, "Savile Row is all about balance and our minimal military-inspired interior is the perfect complement to the French flair of the exterior." When discussing the project, Dylan Jones said, "I was looking for something practical, cool, and a bit unexpected - a car with a 'want' factor that looks, feels, and drives like something no man could ignore. We believe it looks truly remarkable." Performance and environmental sustainability were also key objectives for the project. The Citroën GQ Concept is powered by an eco-friendly plug-in Hybrid with a 1,598cc, 4-cylinder direct injection petrol engine, delivering a remarkable 0-60mph time of 4.5seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 155mph, and CO2 emissions of only 80g/km. Mark Lloyd, Chief Designer of Citroën's International Projects, commented that the powerful driving experience paired with the understated styling is emblematic of the current shift away from "in-your-face" consumption. He said, "What works so well with GQ is that it fits with current attitudes. We wanted something special, not a car for the masses. We wanted a car for GQ and something to represent the pinnacle of automotive excellence and refinement - the Grand Tourer."
