Citroen Xsara Picasso 1999 posters

Citroen Xsara Picasso

The Citroën Xsara Picasso launched onto the market late in 1999 as an answer to Renault Scénic's immense popularity as a compact MPV. The back row of seats could be taken out to create extra storage room. Consequently, this car became the most popular multi-purpose vehicle in France, Great Britain, and almost all of Europe. It has also been manufactured in Brazil to reach the Latin American market since 2001, where it has been the top selling car in its segment.

In 2003, a 2.0i 16v engine with a four speed automatic transmission was made available to UK customers (that initial three years had seen the Picasso strictly selling with an manual gearbox). August 2006 saw Citroën introduce its brand new C4 Picasso, offering seven seats, this C4 model is based on the Citroën C4, yet the Xsara Picasso will stay on the market until the five-seater C4 Picasso arrives.
