Dacia Logan 1.6 MPI

The Dacia Logan is a low-cost subcompact car/supermini jointly produced by the French automaker Renault and its Romanian affiliate Dacia. It is assembled at Dacia's automobile plant located in Mioveni, Romania. The car is sold as either a Dacia or Renault, depending on the local presence of the Renault brand. History In 1999, Renault launched Project X90 following its acquisition of Dacia. During a visit to Russia, French President Jacques Chirac observed that Ladas priced at €6000 were selling very well, in contrast to the more expensive Renaults priced at €12000. Driven to address this inequity, Renault CEO Louis Schweitzer sought to develop a modern, reliable, and affordable car for €5000. The Logan, however, ultimately came to market at a price closer to €6000, though depending on equipment and customs duty, it can reach up to €8500. This model features many cost-saving simplifications in order to reach its affordable price. The Logan has succeeded many older cars in production, such as the Romanian Dacia 1300 series based on the Renault 12 and Iran's Hillman Hunter-based Paykan. It was officially launched in 2004. While Renault originally had no plans to sell the Logan in Western Europe, the automaker began importing a more expensive version of the car in June 2005, starting at around €7000.
