Daihatsu Sirion

The new Daihatsu Sirion has a completely different design and proportions from its predecessor, closely matching the Nissan Micra in terms of length, width and height - but with passenger space comparable to the much larger Honda Jazz. Its front and rear tracks are 65 and 60 mm wider than before, and it is 95 mm shorter and even 20 mm shorter than the Ford Ka. However, the wheelbase is 85 mm longer than the previous model, measuring 2,430 mm, while its width of 1,665 mm is wider by 70 mm and even 5 mm wider than the Toyota Yaris, Nissan Micra and Fiat Punto. The height also sees an increase of 100 mm to 1,550 mm - 10 mm greater than the Micra. Short front and rear overhangs, a raised seating position and a sloping roofline provide an abundance of space without altering the car's height. A sleek finish with swage lines over the wheel arches and a protruding rear bumper give the Daihatsu Sirion a bold, well-balanced look of quality and solidity. The car also boasts an impressive drag coefficient of 0.31 Cd, contributing to good fuel economy and top speed and reducing wind noise. As Yoshihiro Fujibayashi, Studio Leader in the Styling Division of Daihatsu Motor Co, Ltd said: "We wanted to give the car sculptural dimensions and a sense of quality. Its headlamps, side view and integrated rear combination lamps into the bodylines provide a powerful yet dynamic look."
