Daihatsu Terios

The Daihatsu Terios is a mini SUV that was first released in 1997 by the Japanese car manufacturer. It boasts an engine that was a modified Daihatsu Charade 1.3 litre or a 660cc keicar engine, with an option for either four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive. It comes in either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission, while for keicar models, the Terios is shorter in length without a rear pillar-window for compliance with the requisite length regulation. In 2000, Daihatsu gave the Terios a mild facelift for the vehicle's exterior and interior. This included achrome grille in place of the plastic black grille, and for the high-grade model, additional features like electric front windows, central locking, rear seat head restraints, alloy wheels, roof rails, and a roof-mounted rear spoiler. Mechanically, the 1.3 litre SOHC four cylinder engine in the predecessor was replaced by a newer 1.3 litre DOHC four-cylinder engine, with 3 kW (4 hp) up in power. Moreover, a sport version of K3-VET engine was produced in Japan for a period of time. In Australia, 200 limited edition sports models of the Terios were released in 2001. This model featured body-matching colour bumpers, a rear spoiler and a sunroof as standard features, while the interior was updated with metallic paint finish on the center console and instrument. Overseas The first-generation Daihatsu Terios is also known as the Toyota Cami. In Malaysia and China it is available as the Perodua Kembara under the Perodua badge and the FAW Huali Dario Terios, respectively. On the other hand, in Indonesia it is known as the Daihatsu Taruna and has a longer, rear-based body that can seat up to 7 people. While the launch was in 1999, the car was given a facelift, plus a 1589cc HD-C petrol engine. It comes in three grades, each having its own pricing, with the standard CS model being the most affordable around 90 million rupiah (US$13,750). The Zotye 2008, however, is an unauthorized, bootlegged copy of this car, and caused some controversy.
