Dodge Challenger Concept
The designers at Chrysler Group's West Coast Pacifica Studio had a special responsibility when they were tasked with crafting the new Dodge Challenger concept car - they had to "get it right". Drawing inspiration from the Challenger's rich history, they set out to create a hot-looking performance coupe that featured Chrysler Group's advanced rear-wheel drive LX platform and its renowned HEMI® engine. Ultimately, they sought to reinvent the highly-collectible Challenger in a way that stayed true to its bold performance image.
A "short list" of muscle car essentials was created, including distinctly American design, mega horsepower, pure and minimal lines, an aggressive air-grabbing grille, and bold colors and graphics. The 1970 Challenger model was established as the icon of the series. As the car came together, Tom Tremont, Vice President - Advanced Vehicle Design proclaimed: "We wanted the concept car to evoke all those sweet memories... everything you thought the Challenger was, and more."
