Dodge Charger Police Vehicle

The Dodge Charger is a full-size, rear-wheel drive, four-door sedan introduced in February 2005 for the 2006 model year. It has the same LX platform as the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum and features almost an identical interior. This iteration of the Charger replaced the Dodge Intrepid as the full-size sedan for the Dodge brand. Police versionIn early 2006, DaimlerChrysler released a new police version of the Dodge Charger. It made its debut at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. This upgraded model features heavy-duty brakes, a severe-duty cooling system, police performance-tuned Electronic Stability Program, steering, and a gear shifter mounted on the steering column instead of the center console. This center console is replaced by a steel plate to mount radio equipment and siren controllers. The 340 hp 'Hemi' V8 in the police Charger has enough power for speeds of 0 to 60 mph in six seconds and a top speed of 150 mph. As of July 2006, this model has been adopted by police agencies across North America—including the Washington State Patrol, Oregon State Police, Charles County Sheriff's Office, Newark Police Department, and the Alachua County Sheriff's Office—as both unmarked and marked patrol cars. The base police package comes with a 3.5 L V6 engine and bright center hubcaps; however, a 5.7 L Hemi V8 engine with full bolt-on wheel covers is also available as an option.
