Dodge Dakota 1997 posters

Dodge Dakota

The second generation of the Dodge Dakota was produced from 1997 to 2004, inheriting the semi-truck look of the larger Ram yet staying mainly similar underneath. In 1998, the R/T model with a 5.9 L, 250 horsepower Magnum V8 was launched. Additionally, 2000 saw the debut of the Quad Cab with a slightly shorter bed (63.1 in wheelbase) riding on a Club Cab's 130.9 in wheelbase. This was when the smaller V8 was substituted with a high-tech V8. Due to the end of production of the former AMC design, the Dakota's four-cylinder engine was dropped in 2002. Most consumers opted for the much powerful V6 engine that was made as standard for the 2003 version; it was also quite fuel-efficient when combined with a manual transmission.
