Dodge Dakota 1998 posters

Dodge Dakota RT

In 1997, Dodge introduced the second-generation Dakota, which inherited the semi truck look from its bigger brother, the Ram. The "R/T" model debuted with a 5.9 L Magnum V8 producing 250 horsepower (186 kW). This was a groundbreaking move as it marked the only truck in its class with a V8 rivaling the power of full-sized ones. Two years later, the "Quad-Cab" model was unveiled. It featured a shortened but greater payload bed --63.1 inches (160.2 cm)-- and a 130.9 inch (332.5 cm) wheelbase. To power the model, the 5.2 L Magnum V8 was replaced by a more efficient 4.7 L SOHC PowerTech V8. What's more, the Quad-Cab had a full-sized back-seat which allowed for either three passengers or plenty of room for cargo. In 1998, Dodge unveiled the limited-edition R/T package for the Dakota Sport model. This hard-hitting street/sport truck came with plenty of features such as a 360 cid/5.9 liter V8, 46RE four-speed automatic transmission, performance axle, limited-slip differential, sport suspension and steering, superior brakes, performance exhaust, cast aluminum wheels, bucket seats and more. 2002 and 2003 models boasted chrome wheels and stampede body cladding packages, also complimentary.
