Powertrain selections
The 2008 Dodge Dakota offers various powerhouse options that have cemented Dodge's reputation as one of the boldest, most powerful and capable trucks on the road. A selection of powertrains is available, including an exciting new 4.7-liter V-8. This is the only V-8 available in the mid-size pickup segment and provides improved fuel economy, power and torque compared to the previous 4.7-liter High Output engine. The V-8 has two spark plugs per cylinder, higher compression ratio, improved port flow and a new combustion system. This results in an impressive 290 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque, as well as the ability to operate on E85 ethanol to make it a Flexible Fuel Vehicle (FFV).
