Dodge Dakota RT 1998 posters

Dodge Dakota RT

The second-generation Dodge Dakota was in production from 1997 to 2004, taking on the semi truck look of the full-sized Ram pickup. But the R/T model, debuted in 1998, truly revolutionized the Dakota's class. It was the first mid-sized truck with a 250 horsepower 5.9 liter Magnum V8 engine, making it a competitive option for those hauling loads of up to 1500 pounds. Four-door Quad-Cab models were added for 2000, bringing a slightly shorter bed and the new PowerTech V8 engine. In addition, the R/T package featured a 4-speed automatic transmission, performance axle, limited-slip differential, sport suspension, upgraded brakes, performance exhaust, and special cast aluminum wheels. 2002 models had the option of chrome wheels, and 2003 R/T Dakotas came with a Stampede lower body cladding and chromed version of the cast aluminum wheels.
